The Lesbian Power Contingent And Lea Delaria's New Diet

Here’s this week’s glut of lesbian gossip.

Lea Delaria is on a pussy diet and dating young girls

Remember how Lea split up from her fiancee last month? Do you imagine she is taking time to herself, a few weeks of quiet contemplation relearning what it is to be alone after the demise of a long, serious relationship? Naw, girl. Lea is getting it. Delaria went on Conan this week and talked about how and why she recently lost 50 lbs. “They told me I had diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol all at the same time,” she explained, “So basically all I can eat is pussy.” Nice. Watch the full interview to hear Lea discuss her broken engagement. Then, at the SAG Awards, Lea told an E! Reporter "I'm the lesbian Jack Nicholson. I'm dating a lot, dating a lot of young girls. That's where I am right now... I'm not going to waste this fame, I'm going to get as many 20-something girls as I can get my hands on."

Oh boy.

Evan Rachel Wood is engaged to Zach Villa, her Rebel and a Basketcase bandmate. Did you know Evan Rachel Wood is in a band? I did not. Apparently, they’re an Electro Pop Duo. Okay. Anyway, Wood’s rep confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter. Rumors of the engagement started swirling after Sunday’s SAG Awards when the couple was seen wearing matching silver bands. This will be Wood’s second marriage.

Ruby Rose is Cosmo’s March Covergirl

Cosmopolitan put Ruby Rose on the cover of the March 2017 issue. You’ll have to pick up the print issue for Rose’s full interview, but here is a choice quote about sexxxxx from

“I’m very confident and in tune with my sexuality. I feel very blessed for that, because in different places around the world, people can’t be. I’m lucky I can explore. I have a very healthy sex life, and there’s something very empowering, strong, and feminist about being open and comfortable in that world.”

Cameron Esposito Opens Up About Sexual Assault

Cameron Esposito took to Twitter to talk about rape culture and share a story of her own sexual assault. She brilliantly exposed how sexual assault crimes are treated with more dismissal and victim blaming than any other crime.

Lily Tomlin Thanks Partner In Hilarious SAG Award Speech

The 77-year-old actress accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at last week’s SAG Awards. During her speech, Tomlin thanked her partner of 42 years, saying, “My partner, Jane Wagner, is the woman on whose shoulders I stand the tallest.”Tomlin also offered solid advice to young actors and the general public. She quipped that they shouldn’t leave the house if they are too drunk, “And if you’re already out there, well, you must learn to tell when you’ve had too much to drink. Listen to your friends when they stop talking to you and start talking about you. Saying things like, Did she have a purse?”

Sarah Paulson Broke Awards Season Records

Sarah Paulson set a new record this Awards Season. She is the first actress to win an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG, Critics’ Choice, and Television Critics Association award in the same award circuit. Woohoo!

Kristen Stewart sings in SNL promo, goes on theme park date with Stella Maxwell

Opinion: singing is a tedious trend in SNL opening monologues. At least half of the SNL hosts this Season have sung instead of speaking an actual opening monologue. It’s not funny. It’s not interesting. You have an entire staff of people who are supposedly the best comedians and comedy writers in the country. Use them. Write a real joke.

In other Kristen Stewart news, KStew and Stella Maxwell (we’re going to need an abbreviation for that) went to a theme park! And held hands! There are pics. Celebs: they are just like us but richer and better looking.

New trailer for Girls Trip starring Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith

Queen Latifah is absolutely gay and refuses to confirm it, Jada Pinkett has long been followed by bisexual rumors in spite of (or maybe because of) her open relationship with Will Smith. They are in a movie together. It is a fun road trip romp starring four talented African American actresses who visit New Orleans. I am 99% certain there will not be lesbians but it still looks cute.

Wanda Sykes and Ellen DeGeneres lead Power Lesbian contingent

@iamWandaSykes really makes me laugh.

Tegan Quin contributed to A Zine

The zine called Can You Deal and sounds very Brooklyn but all proceeds go to Planned Parenthood.

Lesbian rapper Dramz: Young M.A.A. accused of being a fake lesbian because she used to look girlier

Dumb. I used to look uglier but I’m cute now.

New Israeli film featuring independent Muslim lesbian is making waves

There is alesbian Muslim character and some Muslims aren’t cool with that but other Muslims are like “good.”

Amandla Stenberg’s fourth comic is out

Amandla co-wrote a fantasy comic about a black heroine named Niobe who is “finding her faith and finding her identity. And she's going to keep growing until she becomes this warrior destined to unite the human world and the elf world.” Amandla was inspired by Game of Thrones and Tolkien. This is the fourth in an ongoing series.

The Dorian Awards are here!

The Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association has spoken for their annual Dorian Awards. Check out the full list of winners.

GLAAD Media Awards out

GLAAD nominated a surprising amount of actual gay people this year.

Opinion: ‘Sexual fluidity’ hinders lesbian identity

Sexual fluidity is cool but not everyone is sexually fluid. Most of the time when people say stuff like “everyone is sexually fluid,” they are talking about women. The “everyone is sexually fluid” line of reasoning dismisses or ignores lesbians. Peculiarly, no one suggests gay men should be more sexually fluid. I liked this think piece. I did not like this next one.

Are you bored of seeing writers churn out stories about how they used to be a lesbian but fell in love with a man and *they*are*still*valid*? Me too. It’s not that I have a problem with someone thinking they were gay, and then discovering they are not. I don’t. It’s not that I have a problem with bisexuals or pansexual. I don’t. It’s not that I have a problem with women who are with men wanting to retain their queer identity. I don’t.

What I have a problem with is anyone (including queer women) perpetuating the dangerous (and I don’t use that term lightly) myth that lesbians can be “converted” to liking men if they just met the right guy. I have personally experienced so much harassment from men because they think when I say “lesbian” I just mean “bisexual” or “need a couple more drinks.” This article, and ones like that, fuel that harassment. Whether the author intends it or not.

It’s not really the content of this article that bothers me so much (you liked girls, you like a guy, he is so wonderful you never thought a man could be so wonderful but he isssssssss) as the headline. You weren’t a lesbian, you were bisexual and simply dated all women. Why doesn’t this headline more accurately read “I dated women and now I’m dating a man?” I’ll tell you: because “I’M A LESBIAN BUT I LIKE DICK” is a cheaper, easier, more clickable theme. I’m not averse to clickbait headlines (see: all of my headlines) but at least I don’t use ones that diminish and betray other members of the LGBTQ community.

This person wrote about how her queer identity is still important and invited readers to her queer female comedy show. Maybe it’s time to remember that lesbians are a big part of that queer community, and if you want their respect, you shouldn’t publicly undermine their identity. There are ways of speaking your truth that do not actively harm others. Even if they get a few less shares. Well, that was a nice little rant.

17 Amazing practical advantages of being a lesbian

See! This is clickbait that does not insult the lesbian community! This is how it’s done, darlings.
