DIVA After Dark

Lots Holloway performs live at the first DIVA After Dark

This weekend saw the first ever DIVA After Dark event, supported by DIVA Magazine and with music from singer-songwriter, Lots Holloway.

The event was hosted by Helen Oakleigh. Known for her role as Belle in the UK web series Different For Girls, she told DIVA on the night that she was “really excited” to be hosting the first of what she hopes will become a series of events.

“This is a pop-up night, hopefully in the future we’ll have other events happening around the UK. Lots of LGBT events are very London-centric, so it would be great for there to be pop-ups in other cities.”

With an intimate gig performed by Lots Holloway and a DJ set by the amazing VYLIT, the room was full of lovely ladies dancing until the early hours.

“I feel actually very privileged to be at the first DIVA After Dark,” Lots Holloway told DIVA mid-set.

“I feel it’s the birth of something great and I feel really happy to be here and to be able to say I was at the first one. Yeah, I’m loving it. It’s great, it’s got a good atmosphere. Good music! [laughs]”

“I’m playing tracks from my new EP which comes out on the 4th October. It’s a bit lighter than the recent single I brought out. Stay A Little Longer was a bit dark, a bit indie.

“The lead single is called Slow Down and it’s about how people can rush their lives, by thinking ‘All I want to do is get married, have kids’ or ’As soon as I get that job, when I do this, when I do that,’ and then when you get there, you look back and think ‘I rushed that, why didn’t I just enjoy the moment I was in?’ So it’s all about enjoying life right now.

“Another song, Love Me Though I’m Not Right, is about that moment when you’re in a club and you’re dancing with someone and you know it’s not right to go there - either you have a partner, or that person really likes you and you know you don’t. It’s that, ‘I really shouldn’t do this’ moment, but by the end of the last chorus it’s already happened.”

There was even an appearance at the event from Rain Dove, Munroe Bergdorf’s new colleague at Illamasqua, where both are now faces of the British company’s new beauty campaign.

Missed out? Watch this space for the next event.

Lots Holloway will be having a launch party for her new EP on the 4th of October at Notting Hill Arts Club.

You can also catch her on the 22nd of October at The Finsbury in Manor House and Kensington Roof Gardens on the 20th of October, where she’ll be playing an acoustic gig.
