A "disaster lesbian and Wonder Woman enthusiast" has brightened up Twitter with her adorable (and genius) thread entitled Disney, But It’s All Gay. In this queer fairytale for the digital age, @harleivy shared a giddying stream of GIFs and fantastically PhotoShopped images of her dream animated couples.

Other Twitter users joined in the fun, with @ellisrosehall adding a steamy snap of Ursula from The Little Mermaid getting frisky with the Evil Queen from Snow White.

More than just something cute to cheer up your commute, this gorgeous thread highlights the distinct lack of LGBTQ representation in Disney's current output. Yes, they pushed boundaries by making LeFou gay in the live action Beauty And The Beast, and there was that wait-did-I-just-see-that moment in Frozen when Oaken introduced his partner and kids enjoying a family day out in the sauna...

...But many viewers are still ravenous for more queer characters and for them to take leading rather than supporting roles. Oh and hey there Mr Disney, LeFou and Oaken are fab and all, but what about a little something for us girls?

Back when I wore pigtails and had permanently bruised knees, I idolised Disney princesses as much as the next socially-conditioned primary-schooler. As a grown-up, a Disney film and a mountain of carbs is my go-to hangover cure. I wonder, what difference would it have made to my life as a lezza if I'd had LGBTQ characters to look up to and dress up as when I was a young'un? Heck, I'm a real life adult now (or so I'm told) and if Disney offered up a lesberoine I'd cry rainbow sparkly tears of joy.

I'm not the only cartoon-crazy lady-loving lady. When Frozen became a bonafide blockbuster, #GiveElsaAGirlfriend took social media by storm and even Idina Menzel, the Broadway legend who voiced Elsa, got involved. She told Pride Source, “I’m excited that the conversation is happening. I can’t promise anybody that that’s what’s gonna happen. But deep down, am I really happy that it’s causing people to talk about it and have these kinds of conversations? Yeah I am.”

If Frozen producers are considering getting Elsa a GF, then @harleivy has a couple of suggestions.

The last tweet in this glorious thread treated us sapphic scrollers to one last gleeful glimpse of Megsmerelda, along with an impassioned plea. Let's hope the Disney bigwigs take heed.
