Hot Stuff: In search of lesbian-friendly porn

Our resident sexpert discovers that les-friendly porn isn't so hard to find

Dear Hotstuff,

It is often lamented that lesbian friendly porn is hard to find; we aren't keen on the fake breasts and fake fingernails associated with the stars of 'lesbian' porn made for straight males.

The sex is far from realistic, slapping and spitting on each other's lady gardens and whatnot. Yeuk! DIVA Direct has a selection but it's not what I'm looking for- American teen lesbo slush, vampires and thrillers! Noooo! Could you please help me find some good quality porn starring girls who actually love having sex with other girls. We don't always need a storyline, just lots of steamy sex! I know of an American company called Erocktavision who make films like this but they aren't easy to find in the UK. There must be others, could you help me? Pretty please!

Dear Connoisseur from Cornwall,

Porn. Pornography. Pornification. A tiny word with many evocative variations. At its most basic, and once upon a time, most delightful level, porn used to be about erotic and exotic pleasures. Something we used to switch on once a week, have a quick wank to, kind of want to emulate but ultimately then forget.

Nowadays, porn has become so much more complex. Too accessible, too mainstream and pushed by this popularity, porn has backed itself into a corner, desperately seeking more radical methods to turn on, to thrill, to arouse cocks and controversy. In the process, people acting out real life sex now emulate porn and people seeking thrills are almost obliged to look more and more towards the more violent and more disturbing side of things. It's in this type of porn and its weaker variations that we find vampire nails and excessive saliva being projectile vomited against fannies. It is, frankly, worrying.

I'm not against porn Connoisseur, I would like that to be known. I would like my diatribe to be taken as proof that I'm actually a fan. But as a fan of video games too, for example, I know how important it is to be educated about the 'dark' side, which is why I try as often as possible to annoy everyone with one of my favourite themes! The politicisation of porn. The massive influence it has on real men and what they think real sex is, on real women and what they are educated to believe is expected of them and finally, on the boundaries of what is acceptable and what isn't.

That said, it gives me great pleasure to be able to point you in the direction of some decent, good quality, old-fashioned pornography and for this, none other than my honorable collegues at DIVA. Sadly at DIVA we can't stock R18s in our online store as we can't verify the age of the recipients (a legal requirement). We hope you understand. But what we can do is point you in the direction of an excellent feature we ran in our August issue which highlighted the following websites:

Juicy Pink Box: juicypinkbox.com

Good Dyke Porn: gooddykeporn.com

Lily Cade: lilycade.com

Jiz Lee: jizlee.com/wordpress/film

Pink and White Productions: pinkwhite.biz

Girlfriends films: girlfriendsfilms.com

Courtney Trouble/Nofauxxx: nofauxxx.com

Queer Porn TV: queerporn.tv/wp

Trouble films: troublefilms.com

Good for Her feminist Porn Awards:

I actually look to lesbian-made porn as the possible saviour of the industry. Porn for women, by women, porn that is made, one can hope, realistically and respectfully. Peter Tatchell has said that 'while pornography can be dehumanising and exploitative, it can also be educative, it can be egalitarian, health-promoting and emotionally fulfilling...' Check these sites out and let me know what you think...
