Tart Salon takes over the Vortex jazz club in uber-cool Dalston
on Monday 20 June to host the UK debut of Canadian
singer/songwriter Dana Parsons.
Discovered by Tart organizer Ruth Whitehead on a visit to the
wilds of Newfoundland, Dana sings jazz with her own combo the
Moonglow Trio and high energy pop/rock with the Dana Parsons
Project.
Well-known on her home turf, Dana netted CBC's Galaxie Rising
Star award in 2007, for her first album of original songs, It's
You, Not Me, which was also nominated for five music industry
awards.
An accomplished cabaret performer, writing and starring in her
own show, Oh Canada, Not Just Beavers, Dana is touring this year
with Women Doing Men, a revue of women singers performing songs
usually sung by men.
For her UK debut at Tart, Dana has devised a very personal show
celebrating the major musical influences in her life from Joni
Mitchell to Judy Garland, and featuring material from her
forthcoming new album.
It's going to be a party to remember, so book early to avoid
disappointment. Tickets are available now from the Tart website: www.tartsalon.co.uk.
