DIVA first spotted hip-hop stars-in-the-making Ajah at Bar
Wotever in 2009 and now we're thrilled to hear they're back in
town.
Fronted by MC Lucidity and vocalist Jaheda Choudhury, the
Manchester-based group have made a name for themselves across the
North West. The group draws its collective strength from its
multi-gender, multi-racial, multi-lingual and multi-sexuality
line-up, creating music that challenges preconceptions and embraces
individuality.
"With their sunny dispositions, luscious pop melodies and talk
of 'uniting all cultures', the Manc five-piece are a strangely
hippy proposition - sort of hippy-hip-hop, if you will," says the
Manchester Evening News.
We remember the power of their lyrics and beats and the
mesmerizing stage presence of Jaheda and Lucidity. You'll
definitely want to grab a copy of the new album (on sale at the
gig) after you hear them!
Says the band: "We are all looking forward to coming to Wotever.
When we first performed here we had such a warm welcome from the
audience. We promised we would return with an album and we
have!"
Ajah are followed by DJ Qurra (Club Kali) - Wotever organizers
