DIVA's new comedy crush is lesbian comic Mae Martin. You can
catch her tonight at London Rich Mix's comedy showcase, Knock2Bag,
alongside Doc Brown and other new faces.
Canadian-born Mae has appeared on TV and radio across North
America and has received rave reviews in the UK from DIVA's brother
publication Gay Times, as well as Funny Women and Scotsgay
Magazine.
Since she started performing comedy at the tender age of 13, it
wasn't long before she cemented her place on the Canadian comedy
scene. Nominated for two Canadian Comedy Awards, Mae was the
youngest ever nominee for the prestigious Tim Sims Encouragement
Fund Award. Her television credits include MuchMusic's Video On
Trial, Global Television's "Global Comedians" (alongside Maria
Bamford, Jon Dore, Dave Foley, James Smith and Matt Kirshen), The
Comedy Network's "Cream of Comedy" and the Space Network's "Spacey
Awards".
Currently based in the U.K.Mae has played at festivals and clubs
across the country as well as being a finalist in the Musical
Comedy Awards and the Hackney New Variety Act of the Year
awards.
This year she won "Best International Performer" at the Brighton
Fringe and received stellar reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe
Festival and recently appeared on BBC 3′s Comedy Marathon.
