Official Lip Service event "a resounding success"

Close to 300 fans attended Glasgow event on 15 July

Sad but also happy times for Lip Service fans as the Official Lip Service Fan Event has now been and gone, having taken place in Glasgow on Sunday. And a very enjoyable day it was too.

Attended by just under 300 fans, the event kicked off with Q&A sessions with show creator and writer Harriet Braun, and stars James Anthony Pearson (Ed) and Fiona Button (Tess), Anna Skellern (Lexy) and Heather Peace (Sam).

The five of them fielded questions from GreatLezBritain's Lee Beattie, who hosted the Q&As, as well as from the audience. Questions ranged from the serious to the not-so-serious (naturally), with the discussion covering the writing of the show, the filming of sex scenes, which characters they'd like to play if not their own and the like.

Things then moved on to Sloans bar for the evening, with a Dykes of Hazard party, signing and photo session with the cast plus a host of entertainment upstairs at 'Rubies Bar' provided by compere Jen Brister, with music from Kat McKenzie, Julia and the Doogans and AMiTY.

Lee Beattie from event organisers Wire Media said: "The first official Lip Service event was a resounding success with fans travelling from all over - Italy, Israel, Russian as well as throughout the UK - to meet the cast, listen to the Q&A's and generally have a party in celebration of the show. We know how much people love the programme and we wanted to make sure that the whole event really felt like a 'Lip Service experience' - and I think from the positive reaction, we definitely gave them that. Thanks to everyone who came, had a shots o'clock moment, donned a Stetson and left with a Frankie swagger."

There will be full coverage, as they say, of the event in our next issue - September, on sale 16 August. So if you weren't able to be there on the day, we'll get you up to date, and if you were there, well, it'll be a chance to reminisce. And who doesn't like to do that?
