How do you feel about lending a helping hand to a new lesbian
film project in Canada? Nobody dies, it isn't about the struggles
of coming out and it isn't a porno. Sounds great so far, right?
Portrait of a Serial Monogamist tells the story of 40-something
Elsie who breaks up with her long-term girlfriend for a younger
woman. This is a genuine comedy about love and relationships.
Diane Flacks is an Emmy- and Dora-nominated writer/performer who
will play the film's protagonist, Elsie, alongside Carolyn Taylor
as her long-term girlfriend, Robyn. Portrait of a Serial Monogamist
is directed by Christina Zeidler and tipped to be fresh and
hilarious, in the style of mainstream classics such as Manhattan,
Annie Hall and High Fidelity. The film is set in Toronto and will
focus on its alternative queer community.
Its filmmakers have already produced a two-minute trailer which
can be viewed here. This
was made without any funding, but they are now asking people to
contribute to help make the rest of the film, which was recognised
by Toronto's
blogTO.com as a project "worth taking note of".
So far, they have managed to raise $15,815, but are still a long
way off their target of $60,000 at just over 25% of their goal.
If you want to make a donation, you can do so by visiting the
project's IndieGoGo page where you most definitely won't miss
the big, pink 'contribute now' button. There are only 11 days left
until the funds are closed, so nip over there right now if Portrait
sounds like a film you want to see! If you choose to, you will be
viewed by the team as a partner of the film, and a few partner
perks could come your way.
