AMiTY, aka Wolverhampton born Amy Forrester, is a brand new
artist we first saw on last month's Stand Out tour. She was signed
up to the tour on the recommendation of Heather Peace who
discovered her talents at a show in Brighton.
Some background? Amy Forrester went to V Festival in the summer of
'99, watched some bands and went straight home to learn the drums.
Once she had honed her slightly Bobby Gillespie-esque drumming
style, she taught herself to play the guitar and experimented with
some pedals. Next she created a kazoo out of an old toilet roll
holder, discovered she could sing and decided she could never do
anything else but make music. Thus, AMiTY was born.
Four years later AMiTY emerged from a studio - housed in the spare
room of her ex's uncle - with her first EP full of catchy lo-fi pop
songs that (we are reliably informed) steal hearts and cause
dancefloor invasions. The EP has already received some top notch
reviews while the word of mouth about her fantastic one woman live
shows brings a bigger and increasingly passionate audience to each
gig.
