Power Queers is a one off, all-day event that is brought to you
by queer co-conspirators Club Milk, Scumbag and The Closet Mixtape.
You may have made out in the toilet at one of our shows or dance
parties in the past. Or at the very least smiled shyly at that
cutey with the hott bike that you are hoping will invite you home
for a cup of vanilla rooibos with soya milk... We've been putting
on lo-fi shows in London for a long time now so we thought it would
be fun to merge our palm pilots, synchronise our filofaxes, and get
together to make some queer fun for the people.
There will be quiet fun from 2-6pm in the form of zine distros
Cherry Bomb Comix and Ricochet! Ricochet!, art by the fabulous Flo
Brooks, feminist lady tarot readings from The House of Labrys and
lazy-day-long-player-favourite-album DJing from the queers in
charge.
At 6pm the shoulder pads go in, the ties get straightened and we
get down to business... live music from the North West's
fifth most popular Joy Division tribute act, Joyce D'vision.
Followed by a trio of wild London delights, firstly in the form of
no-fi amateur haters Homosexual Death Drive. They are dykes, they
are fat, they are old. Yeah! Then new kidz on the bloc, Faggot,
with adorable, heartfelt, political indiepop in bondage gear - if
you are lucky. And queer post-punk supergroup Cover Girl
(pictured), who will provide you with the most fun you
will have on the dance floor at a gig circa 2012.
Headliners STLS join us for their first ever UK show - and the
only one this tour. Prepare to have your mind blown by their
fourhanded drumcore rhythmic patterns. Two drummers! Drumming!
Standing up! Amazing! Hott! Feminists! Dykes! SWOON. And they come
all the way from Portland, Oregon - where at least 40% of all the
cool things in the world are born. Possibly.
Plus night time DJ magic provided by members of the amazecore
band Woolf, Cherry Bomb Comix, The Closet Mixtape and Dyke Bar.
What better way to spend your Sunday?
