Her nude shoot in Playboy might be causing a stir but bisexual
star Lindsay Lohan is caught on camera in a much more
controversial, but less well-known, collection this week.
Photographs from Lohan's infamous shoot with Hollywood snapper
Tyler Shields appear in his UK debut 'Well Hung.'
The exhibition, at urban contemporary gallery Imitate Modern in
London, is a collaboration with British artist Maximillian
Wiedemann showcasing the dark side of celebrity culture.
The exhibit's focal piece 'Lohan Knife' is the notorious shot of
a blood-drenched Lohan clutching a knife. Owning your very own copy
will set you back £14,000 - there's only three originals in
existence. Don't all rush at once.
Lindsay's had to defend the photograph before. She came under
criticism after posting one of the images, showing her with a gun
pointed in her mouth, on Twitter, defending it with the tweet:
'it's not soft-core porn hunny, it's ART.' I can't help but wonder
how well that went down at her court appearance the following
week.
Shield might be her favourite photographer but it wasn't a wise
move for the star's image. It didn't really help her drop the
good-girl-gone-bad persona. But then again we wouldn't let her do
that anyway, even if she tried. Pre-gay, dignified, Lohan is a
bore. This one's so much more fun.
The A-list star seems to slip comfortably into the role as a
blood-soaked harlot. I'm not sure anyone should give Lohan a knife
as a prop but Shield's previous shoots have seen him jump off
buildings, so I guess he's into taking risks. It pays off - the
images are shocking. Positive or not the collection will evoke a
response from even the most uninterested viewer.
The real interest of this exhibition will come in seeing some of
your straight-laced idols losing their inhibitions. It's not just
Lohan we get to see breaking taboos, there's a whole range of
starlets on show. Brittana fans can rush downstairs to see Glee's
Heather Morris in a shoot on domestic abuse. And Twilight's
beautiful Ashley Greene makes an appearance.
Shield's charisma has his subjects' only too willing to do
anything to please him: he even has good girl Emma Roberts crying
blood.
Mischa Barton's pose with raw meat, which has enraged activists,
fetches the highest sale price at £20,000. In the shoot Barton
nibbles on a piece of uncooked meat, and places a steak over her
eye. Topless of course. She's making a come-back then -
unless her next casting agent is a PETA supporter.
The exhibition runs until November 14 at Imitate Modern, and
with no announced plans to display in the UK again, this may be one
of the only chances to see Shield's collection up-close.
