Following the
huge success of Dyke March London 2012 in March, help is needed
to plan next year's Dyke March. The event brings together lesbians
and supporters in a mass march across central London, with the
message of "love and passion for women and all dykes." This year's
march was the first time lesbians and bi women had marched in
central London since the 1980s, but to make sure next year's event
goes ahead as planned help is required.
Organisers are holding a Dyke March London 2013 Creation Meeting
to recruit helpers in a range of different jobs. Voluntary
positions available include coordinators, graphic designers for
marketing, finance staff, entertainers and stewards amongst many
more. Fundraising staff are also needed to make sure enough money
is raised in order for the march to go ahead, and ideas for
fundraising events are needed. The online presence of the march is
important too and the group welcomes anyone willing to set up a
webpage or Facebook groups and generally updating the Twitter
page.
The Dyke March is a non-commercial grassroots campaign, ensuring
an anti-racist, accessible and inclusive event for all lesbians,
queers, bisexuals, transwomen, genderqueers and
supporters.
The meeting will take place at the National Theatre Café,
Southbank on 19 September at 6.30pm.
