Here at DIVA we're super excited about the Enduring Love
project, just launched by The Open University.
Researchers at The Open University (supported by DIVA regular Meg
Barker, and led by expert in lesbian families, Jacqui Gabb, and
colleagues) want to find out what couples do that allows
relationships to last, that lets them succeed in that most
challenging of tasks - continuing to love.
All the research is being carried out through an online
questionnaire plus some in-depth interviews for willing
participants. The interim results will be published in February
2013, final results 2014, with a mass market book due out the
following year.
There's been nothing done so far that's been as in-depth or far
reaching - and as well as being academically significant so
Enduring Love? will be hugely useful for society and for ordinary
folk.
Of course the survey is open to all but we at DIVA want to make
sure that lesbians and bisexual women are properly represented.
So now it's your chance to take part! What the researchers are
looking for is adult individuals in long-term relationships to
answer a short online survey about what relationships mean
today.
The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to answer and is
completely confidential. The results will help all of us to
understand what helps people sustain relationships even when to do
so feels challenging.
