For the 27th year running Palm Springs will play host to popular getaway and musical festival Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend - otherwise known as "The Dinah".

The largest lesbian event in the world, the five day festival celebrates female contribution to society and is entirely produced by women for women (talk about girl power, right?).

As Women's History month in the US draws to a close, The Dinah will pick things straight back up again and take place from 29 March to 2 April. Not dissimilar to "Land Ahoy" or other wild episodes of The L Word, the festival offers a powerful all-female line up of inspiring women from the worlds of music, sport, fashion, comedy, film and television.

This year's line up includes a number of influential kick-ass names, including British comic Gina Yashere; stand-up comics Julie Goldman and Erin Foley; world class DJs such as DJ Kittens and duo Stevie Trickz; and LA based hip-hop rapper and choreographer Lady Cultura.

These wonderful acts alongside the beautiful Californian weather and official free pre-party kicking off the celebrations at Hilton Palm Springs is an event you'd be kicking yourself if you missed.

Mariah Hanson, founder and producer of The Dinah, says: "The Dinah has always stood for living out loud in celebration of our unique and incredible lives. These are women who have taken a change, shaken off-stereotypes, fought adversity and broken the glass ceiling in their respective professional fields paving their own ways."

One of a number of world class festivals held by Palm Springs, the festival is an on-going tradition for the city. Hanson created the event in 1991 as a one-of-a-kind place for women of all ages, interests, ability relationship status, cultural background and professions. Since then it has become an internationally recognised one-stop hub. And if you're looking for something a little more than a jam-packed line up, the festival also seeks for women to meet and connect with other women, make new friends, reunite with old ones and even find their dream girl.

Palm Springs has long fought for the promotion of LGBT rights and is home to the largest number of LGBT specific resorts in the world. As well as The Dinah, Palm Springs also hosts a number of quality and solidarity promotional events throughout the year including Palm Springs Pride Parade and The White Party.

Mary Jo Ginther, Director of the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism, said: "The Dinah is a fantastic time to be in the city, which really comes to life with music, comedy and live events and we're sure that this year's festival will be just as successful as ever. We're very proud that Palm Springs has such a great history of promoting gender equality and LGBT rights and The Dinah has been a big part of that for almost 30 years!"
