Finally, we've edged our way into July! So whether you're into
talent shows, comedy or The Sounds, our lez-tastic DIVA guide is
here to help you satisfy your summer cravings this weekend.
Friday 1 July
Chastity Butterworth and the Spanish
I know what you're thinking, has that crazy loon been on a late
night blue cheese diet? Not exactly. This hilarious comedy
character played by Gemma Whelan won the Funny Women Variety Award
last year and is bound to be a success. With discussions of
Primark, a bit of dancing and even the possibility of fresh fruit
prizes, this show will definitely tickle your ribs. Showing at the
Leicester Square Theatre at 7.30pm
The first ever talent show organised by Pride London 'So Hottie'
is being held tonight at the Shadow Lounge, Brewer Street, Soho.
Contestants battle it out to win their place at the head of the
parade tomorrow and be the ambassador for pride for the next year.
Featuring categories including swimwear and eveningwear (and TWO
lesbians!) this may be the catalyst that will kick-start your
weekend! Starting at 10pm.
Saturday 2 July
London Pride's big day is finally upon us! The usual parade kicks
off at 1pm taking in many of London's major sites before heading to
Trafalgar Square where the real party begins. Of course Soho will
be a hubbub for excitement where a massive street party is
expected. There is even a family area for those who want to hang
out with clowns, balloons and a ball pit.
Singing and possibly dancing, the Gay Abandon choir from West
Yorkshire will be performing at Leeds College of Music this
Saturday night from 7.30pm. It promises to be a night to remember,
and it'll only knock you back £12!
Sunday 3 July
Grace Jones and The Sounds at Wireless
Wireless festival is at Hyde Park this weekend culminating in a
fantastic final day on Sunday. Expect the likes of Pulp and Grace
Jones and of course our favourite Swedish band of the year so far,
the Sounds. Tickets are still available for Sunday at £55.25 each.
