Country music star Chely Wright married her long-term
girlfriend, Lauren Blitzer, in a Connecticut ceremony over the
weekend.
The wedding comes just 12 months after the 40-year-old artist
came out in America's People magazine, last summer - the first
major country music artist to do so.
The pair both wore white wedding gowns, but told People they
skipped the veils because they like their hair too much.
The couple decided to combine both Chely's Christian and
Lauren's Jewish beliefs, with a rabbi and reverend presiding over
the ceremony.
The singer told People earlier this year: "We want a family. The
benefit of being out is I get to have everything that everyone else
has. I do want a family and I do want traditional things. I just
had no idea it would happen so quickly. I feel like it was a
blessing from God."
The country star tweeted a picture of the pair just before the
ceremony this weekend.
