Organisers of the well-known Women's Performance Tent at
Brighton Pride have announced a free live music dayon Saturday 13
August at the Latest Music Bar, Manchester St, Brighton.
The organizers were offered the indoor venue at short notice and
have pulled together a varied line-up to showcase female talent
during the weekend, which sees the city's annual Pride parade take
place, followed by the popular party in Preston Park. This year the
park event is ticketed, with park admission costing £17.50 on the
day.
Free Brighton Pride Women's Performance Tent at the Latest Music
Bar includes performers Zoe Konez, Beth Swain, Chikin, Ella
Chambers, Danni Nicholls, Heads Hearts, Greymatter, Kenelis, Voodoo
Hussy (acoustic), Qukulele, Al Start, Lara King, Nicky Mitchell,
Ronnie Rialto, Debz Sebborn, Vinyl Black Stilettos and Kelly (of
Kelly and the Blow Ups), plus hosting spots from Cookie, Ronnie
Rialto and Lara King.
Nicky Mitchell, spokeswoman and co-founder of the Women's
Performance Tent at Brighton Pride for the past 10 years, said:
"Entrance to this exciting spontaneous event, promoting fabulous
women performers, is free. Bucket collections will be made
throughout the day in aid of Sussex Community Foundation Rainbow
Fund, which supports local LGBT communities. Every care will be
taken to ensure transparency in all financial dealings."
"Free Brighton Pride is an LGBT event, " she continued. "At a
time when our LGBT voluntary sector organisations are facing such
hardship, the LGBT community must be pro-active in its own
fundraising. All are welcome and the stage will remain the preserve
of LGBT women performers. This event has strong community backing
and participation and aims to showcase amazing talent while
generating plenty of donations. All voluntary help is gratefully
received, especially from qualified security staff, sound
technicians and anyone who can offer a backline for the day."
