The leader of a conservative Christian organisation has blamed a
supermarket's infestation of mice on their support of gay
equality.
Stephen Green, leader of Christian Voice, has blamed Tesco's
support for London's Gay Pride 2012 as the reason for its recent
problems.
As reported on PinkPaper.com, Tesco became the major sponsor of
Gay Pride after pledging £30,000 towards it in November 2011. But,
the supermarket chain was forced to close its Tesco Metro store in
London's Bedford Street, Covent Garden, on March 26, due to an
infestation of vermin.
And, according to the religious figure, this incident is the wrath
of God.
"Nothing has gone right for Tesco since they decided to support
gay pride. Their only hope is to repent of that decision and
put their trust in God," Green said in a statement on his
website.
"Repenting of the 'Gay Pride' decision will be part of
that."
Previously, Green has blamed Tesco's poor performance over the
Christmas period - which saw sales slump and shares fall by
14 per cent over the busiest retail period of the year - on their
support of LGBT issues.
We contacted Tesco on the matter, but they declined to comment on
the matter.
