The former director of Manchester Pride has announced details of
her latest venture - a music festival for feminists and their
supporters.
LadyRock Festival - the North West's first ever women-only event
of its kind - debuts on Saturday 26 May 2012 at Manchester Rugby
Club.
The event's founder and director is Jackie Crozier, best known for
her four year reign as Manchester Pride's festival director and
involvement with Manchester's LGBT community.
Crozier said: "We've all got a little Girl Power inside - it's
time we started to shout about it a little louder! LadyRock
Festival hopes to bring that sense of female unity back to
Manchester this May, showcasing some of the best female talent on
offer, from world-class headliners to the unsigned and
up-and-coming. Despite this, men are more than welcome - if there
are RockerBoys who want to come and support the females we applaud
that!"
The festival had already begun to raise some eyebrows via Twitter,
and on Sunday held its first photo shoot, with its 'LadyRockers'
and 'RockerBoys', who will be promoting the event throughout the
UK.
During the six years Crozier worked with Manchester Pride, the
event received the 'Best UK Pride' prize for five consecutive
years.
In addition to this, Jackie has herself been recognised by
numerous publications for her services to the LGBT community.
Attitude magazine listed Crozier as one of the UK's top forty
people to be inspired by in 2010, whilst last year saw her chart in
the Independent on Sunday's 'Pink List', and receive the 'Community
Champion of the Year' prize at the Lesbian and Gay Foundation's
Homo Hero Awards.
Tickets for LadyRock Festival 2012 will be on sale from 1 March.
