Lady Gaga and Jessie J are among the celebrities nominated for this year's Stonewall awards, due to be held on November 3 at the V&A.

The awards celebrate those who have made a positive impact on the lives of gay, lesbian and bisexual people in Britain during the last 12 months.

Lady Gaga is in the running for Hero of the Year for her LGBT equality campaigning, an award voted for by Stonewall supporters across Britain.

Jessie J is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, along with Matt Smith, Harry Derbridge, Jane Hazlegrove and Christopher Plummer.

Lip Service received a nomination for Broadcast of the Year, along with Torchwood, The World's Worst Place to be Gay, Jamie's Dream School and The Night Watch.

Other awards include; Publication of the Year, Journalist of the Year, Writer of the Year, Politician of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year.

Ben Summerskill, Stonewall Chief Executive, said: "This year's Stonewall Award nominees include out gay sport stars, regional, national and sector publications, popular TV shows and popular LGB and straight entertainers.

"The diversity of those nominated for an award demonstrates how gay equality is embedding itself into 21st century British life. We think that's a real cause for celebration."

Winners from the categories will be chosen by a celebrity judging panel including Gok Wan, England women's football coach Hope Powell and radio presenter Eddie Mair.
