Amina Arraf - who blogs under the name Amina Abdallah - is the
author of A Gay Girl in Damascus, a popular thread which chronicles
Syria's political unrest and social uprising.
Reports suggest that she was abducted last night while en route to
a meeting.
A post on her blog, said to be published by a relative, claims
Abdallah was seized by three armed men who are thought to be
members of the security services.
"Amina was seized by three men in their early 20s. According to
the witness (who does not want her identity known), the men were
armed. Amina hit one of them and told the friend to go find her
father," the post said.
"One of the men then put his hand over Amina's mouth and they
hustled her into a red Dacia Logan with a window sticker of Basel
Assad."
Abdallah is said to be just one of 10,000 citizens detained
since protesters started to call for political reforms and the
reinstatement of civil rights, as well as an end to the state of
emergency which has been in place since 1963.
The blog post continued: "Amina's present location is unknown
and it is unclear if she is in a jail or being held elsewhere in
Damascus.
"We are hoping she is simply in jail and nothing worse has
happened to her."
The Guardian report that Syria has at least 13 branches of
security forces, various police divisions as well as militias and
gangs.
