The fitness instructor from ITV's Biggest Loser, Angie Dowds,
has died after plunging from Beachy Head cliff on the south coast
of England.
The award-winning celebrity fitness guru - who is a former DIVA
cover star - is believed to have committed suicide, although this
has not been verified.
However, police this morning did confirm the body of the 42
year-old was found on the beach near Eastbourne, East Sussex.
Dowds had separated from her lesbian partner, Corrie Preece, to
whom she was engaged, earlier this year.
She had also battled an addiction with alcohol and drugs.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Just after 4.30pm on Sunday
members of the public reported that a woman was seen to jump or
fall from the top of cliffs at Beachy Head.
"Coastguards found the body of woman at the foot of the cliffs
about an hour later. There are no suspicious circumstances and it
is believed that the body may be that of a 42-year old woman from
London."
Biggest Loser presenter Davina McCall took to social networking
site Twitter to pay her respects, saying: "Rest in peace
Angie Dowds @angechops. So so sad."
Jane Czyzselska, editor of DIVA, said: "I'm so sad to hear about
Angie. She was an inspiration to many. My heart goes out to her
family and friends."
