First up, a lesbian from the Netherlands was jailed for 18 months after her pivotal role in a sham wedding. Roqsilmar Marti tried to marry a Nigerian man at an Essex church for immigration purposes in Summer 2010, but was sensationally arrested at the altar in a high-profile sting. Chaz Bono, transgender son of Cher and late Sonny Bono, premiered his film Becoming Chaz on Oprah Winfrey's US network OWN.

The film follows the writer and performer as he underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2008, removing his breasts but not his female genitalia. Speaking to Winfrey, he said the change had affected all his relationships - not least his long-term partnership with Jennifer Elia.

The star said men are more likely to be judged for it, while bisexual girls are seen as sexually adventurous. Speaking to The Telegraph the singer said: "I've been with guys and I've been with girls. And I kind of think it's about the person not the genitals. A lot of people are like, 'Oh, she doesn't know what she is'. But I definitely think my generation is more easy going about it."
