Rachel Aviles was one of the most popular kids at The Master's School, a K-12 Christian school in Connecticut's West Simsbury, according to Hartford Courant. She also excelled at extra-curricula activities.

But when she came out to her teachers following a school trip, their relationship is said to have soured beyond repair.

Immediately after announcing she was a lesbian, Aviles claims she was encouraged to withdraw - or face expulsion.

Aviles' former coach Heather Lodovico, spoke about the incident.

"She texted me and said something like 'They kicked me out,' and I made a joke, 'What, are you pregnant?' and she said, 'No, worse. I'm gay,'" said Lodovico.

The school's meadmaster, Jon Holley, has rejected opportunities to discuss the case because of "privacy concerns".

Having attended a Christian highschool I have to say it surprises me that this has happened. In my school a good number of us had come out early on as LGB. While the religion teachers always put us in the back and our classmates in general shunned us, we never had anyone in authority even mention it to us. Let alone as us to leave. At the time I thought it was horrifying that the faculty never put forth the effort to make us feel more 'at home'. You hope that things get better with time, that we move forward. This seems like a huge step back from an already bad place. -----------({*})----------- For Women. For the Love of Women. www.VulvaLoveLovely.com
