As reported on DIVA last week, the lesbian singers - Beverly
McClellan and Vicci Martinez - have both been saved by the public
vote on several occasions in the popular TV talent contest.
Now, they will compete in the apex of the show's first season,
which will air tonight.
"Everybody is just evaluated based on their talent and their
voice, and that has no boundaries and no boxes to put anybody in,"
Audrey Morrissey, one of the show's executive producers, told
ABC.
The winning singer gets a record contract with Universal Republic
Records and a $100,000 prize.
Previously, the LA Times newspaper described both hopefulls as
"compelling singers" and claim that their presence in tonight's
final illustrates a changing attitude in America.
The show, which is not dissimilar to X Factor, features Christina
Aguilera, Maroon 5's Adam Levine and Cee-Lo Green.
