The actress was arrested just three weeks out of rehab in 2010
after Jewellery storeowners in LA reported her, claiming she had
taken a necklace worth $2,500 without their permission.
After pleading "no contest" to the charges, despite previously
claiming that she had done nothing wrong, Lohan has also received
300 hours community service, which she has already commenced at a
women's shelter.
She was ordered by the judge to seek psychological
counselling.
Now, the Mean Girls actress - who was rumoured to date Samantha
Ronson - must also attend a shoplifter's alternative
programme.
It is reported that Lohan will probably serve 17 days of the
sentence and that it will be under house arrest due to overcrowding
issues in Californian prisons.
Lohan issued a written statement on how she was glad that she
could now put the case behind her and added: "I hope to be able to
fulfil my obligation without any press attention...I think the
media spotlight should be on issues such as homelessness and
domestic violence instead of on me".
