Jason Boswell unleashed his pedigree Japanese Akita on
openly-gay Karen Wilson in an unprovoked daylight attack, last
summer.
The incident followed a torrent of anti-gay abuse from Boswell,
who also attacked his victim with a dog chain and pushed her from
her bike before setting the feral animal on her.
When she tried to protect herself the dog sank his teeth into
her arm, leaving her with puncture wounds and severe bruising, the
Manchester Evening News report.
Boswell was jailed for six-and-half months after being found
guilty of assault and being the owner of a dog dangerously out of
control in public.
"Seeing that dog's mouth coming at my head is something that
will always stay with me," she told the MEN.
"I'm scarred, mentally and physically, by what happened that day,
but the police were a great help."
Judge Williams, who presided over the case, said Boswell's
behaviour had been "disgraceful and wholly distasteful".
He said: "Whatever started this nonsense... it developed into
something ugly. It does seem that the dog has been perfectly
well-behaved until that unfortunate afternoon."
