The 24 year-old, who stars in True Blood, told GQ magazine it was not a "one girl thing" saying: "No, that's for real. I've been that way since I can remember.

"I remember growing up and loving when I knew there was a girl like me who I looked up to. I figured I should return the favor. You don't have to be ashamed."

The star - who features in new movie The Ides of March - attended the film's New York premiere, last night. George Clooney and Ryan Gosling were also in attendance.

In it, Evan plays a promiscuous intern called Molly Stearns, who sleeps with multiple characters in the political thriller.

Reflecting on her private life, she added that she is "kind of like the guy when it comes to girls."

She added: "I'm the dominant one. I'm opening the doors, I'm buying dinner. Yeah, I'm romantic. I was always into very androgynous things. Guys, girls... I'm into androgyny in general."
