The U.S. premier delivered his well-wishes during the veteran TV
star's ninetieth birthday celebrations, yesterday.
The star - who played Rose Nylund in The Golden Girls - marked
her ninth decade alongside friends such as Mary Tyler-Moore, with
whom she once co-starred.
The previous night, American television channel NBC broadcast a
special show in White's presence entitled A Tribute to America's
Golden Girl.
The star-studded night saw a host of celebrities such as Ellen
Degeneres and Tina Fey thank White for her contribution to the
industry.
Loaded with gags, none were more rousing than Obama's.
Set inside the White House, the video sees him make a formal
request to see White's birth certificate to prove her age. It later
sees him frame a picture of her in his headquarters, before
listeing to the theme from The Golden Girls - Thank You For Being A
Friend - on an MP3 player.
Naturally, the sketch drew a huge reaction from attendees and
viewers - with White responding by smiling and blowing him a
kiss.
Other stars who were present included Jay Leno, Morgan Freeman
and Hugh Jackman.
Actress Amy Poehler said: "Betty, you're going to hear a lot of
jokes tonight about your age.
But take comfort in the fact that come tomorrow, you won't
remember any of them."
Likewise, Carol Burnett joked: "Like many of you, I first heard
about Betty from the wonderful stories told to me by my
grandmother.
Actor Zachary Levi even proposed to her.
"I've been the luckiest old broad on two feet to have all the
jobs that I've had," White joked.
