The original winner of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, has once
again publicly dismissed rumours that she is gay.
During an appearance on U.S. chat show The View, the 29-year-old
said: "I'm from a small town, so everyone's married with children
or about to have children.
"It's a little hard when you go home and people are like -- and
that's why people think I'm gay -- because they're like, 'Why
aren't you married?' And I'm like, 'It doesn't happen for everyone
right off the bat!'"
The Because of You star has been dogged by rumours of her
sexuality for years, ever since winning the popular talent
contest.
Adding how she won't sacrifice her career for a relationship, she
said: "I think it's my purpose, music. I might not want to do this
when I'm 50, so I might as well do as much of it now."
"I've dated some cool guys, but I don't know if I've dated someone
where I could spend my whole life with them," Clarkson added.
"The last date I went on was horrible, so I'd like to go on a good
date."
