Yesterday, crowds gathered outside the Palace of Holyroodhouse,
the Queen's residence in Scotland, to demand his honour be
revoked.
Souter was a prominent leader of Keep The Clause - a 2002
campaign which was organised to prevent the repeal of Section
28.
The said legislation aimed to ban local authorities from
"promoting" homosexuality and prevent schools from introducing
anti-bullying policies when it came to their gay students.
An online petition has also been created which has been signed
by over 5,000 people.
Nathan Sparling, speaking to Deadline News on behalf of the
campaign, said: "It is not acceptable that Brian Souter, one of the
most prominent anti-LGBT campaigners in Scotland, is being honoured
with a knighthood."
Souter has refused to comment on the situation.
