Comedienne and DIVA cover star Sue Perkins was one of several
stars honoured at the 21st Women in Film and TV Awards ceremony,
earlier today.
Perkins was joined by British comedy legend Victoria Wood, actress
Emily Watson and television executive Janice Hadlow at the annual
event, which took place at London's Park Lane Hilton Hotel.
Actress and comedian, Miranda Hart, accompanied by stars from
Priscilla Queen of the Desert, hosted the event where almost 1,000
of film and TV's most influential industry guests gathered to
celebrate the year's most inspiring women.
Comedy writer and presenter Sue Perkins won the BBC News and
Factual Award for her work on one of the surprise hits of 2011, The
Great British Bake Off.
"This is a truly an exceptional year for the Sky Women in Film and
TV Awards! Not only do we have a record number of awards -14
this year - but we actually have a total of 18 winners. And
what a terrific array of creativity, talent, drive and sheer
determination they have!" says WFTV CEO Kate Kinninmont.
"I'm particularly delighted to see that the ITV Achievement of the
Year Award is being presented to the three courageous women
correspondents who risked their lives to get to the frontline and
report live on the fall of Tripoli. We still don't allow females to
fight on the frontline, yet these three women managed to dodge the
bullets and get to the heart of the story while the men were
reporting from balconies back at their hotel."
