Footage of a lesbian couple getting engaged during a National
Hockey League game in Canada has become an internet sensation.
The proposal, which took place in Ottawa, Canada, on Saturday
night was greeted by cheers from onlookers.
According to Chicago-based website Go-Pride, Christina - an
Ottawa Senators fan - proposed to Alicia, a Toronto Maple Leafs
fan, during an interval break as both treams competed against each
other at Scotiabank Place sports venue.
Both women were wearing sports shirts of their respective
teams.
As Christina got down on one knee to propose, fans cheered.
Shortly after, the Senators mascot raised a sign that read "She
Said Yes."
Same-sex marriage is fully legal in Canada and has been since July
2005.
In doing so, it became the fourth country in the world - and the
first of the Americas - to allow formal gay marriage.
