The Women's Sports Network is to launch a new campaign designed
to encourage more women to get involved in sport. The campaign,
called the Women TRY Sport Campaign will be launched on 21st June,
with the support of a number of national governing bodies and
women's sports organisations.
The Network's website lists over 1000 events set up by national
governing bodies, clubs and sports centres, designed for women to
try out different sports on an informal basis.
You can get involved in the campaign by encouraging your friends
to try a new sport on the 21st, or by running your own event at
your school, club or business.
If you run events for women, get them listed for free on the
organisation's website here: women2012.co.uk/submit-event.php
You can also pledge to support women's sport on Facebook at Facebook.com/women.try.sport.day
The launch also includes a competition to win tickets to meet your
sports heroines and train with them at Wembley on the 21st. To
enter, simply 'like' the Facebook page, where you will find further
details.
The full team of sports heroines, which includes a number of
international sports stars who are supporting the campaign, will be
announced on 21st May.
