US rocker Melissa Etheridge, famous for her hard-rocking
confessional songs including Your Little Secret and Come To My
Window, today finally received the water she requested more than
two decades ago, DIVA can report.
According to sources, in a heartfelt request first made in 1988,
Etheridge had made the following plea: "Somebody bring me some
water, can't you see I'm burning alive." She continued,
desperately: "Can't you see it's out of control?"
Etheridge's touching plea has been repeated many hundreds of
times during the 1990s and 2000s (see one poignant video example,
below), but for reasons unknown to this reporter has only now been
paid heed to. In a world exclusive, DIVA can confirm that finally,
at 12.46pm EST today, Etheridge clapped eyes on a long awaited
glass of sparkling mineral water, allegedly served in a glass
tumbler.
To her considerable credit, the rocker proved very understanding
about the delay, stating: "I thought I asked for still water with
no ice? Oh well, I guess this is fine." Despite the almost
unforgivable delay, upon leaving the restaurant the Nervous singer
left a generous tip.
The waitress assigned to Etheridge's table, whose shift began in
May 1978 and ends in summer 2017, was apparently too busy not
telling Madonna, who was sitting at another table in her section,
to stop, to comment on the reasons behind the delay.
