Brighton Pride makes gay families extra welcome this year, with a dedicated families area and circus tent.
Brighton Pride will boast a fabulous and brand new families’ area in Preston Park this year, so families with young children will be feeling extra welcome. All sorts of fun activities are planned so little ones can enjoy the festival vibe and party atmosphere.
Rainbow Families – an informal social group for LGBT families based in Brighton and Hove – have a circus tent within the families’ area, where kids will be able to take part in art and craft activities, circus skills and face painting.
The practical aspects won’t be forgotten either, as there’ll be toilet facilities reserved for children and families, dedicated breastfeeding area, buggy park, and a baby change area.
Rainbow Families will also be providing a creche with trained nursery nurses. You’ll need to prebook childcare to make sure you get a slot, so keep an eye on the Rainbow Families' website
here for further details.
If you and your little ones are in the Brighton and Hove area the week before Pride, check out the Rainbow Families pre-Pride party on Sunday 1 August. They’ll have exclusive use of the fantastic Westows Centre in Hove (School Road, Hove BN3 5HX) for a mid-morning soft play session. Don’t forget your socks!
Rainbow Families is also hoping to arrange a parents’ meeting at this event featuring a talk from a solicitor with a wide range of expertise in family law. All LGBT families are welcome as are those interested in meeting us or just hearing the seminar.
Keep checking the
Rainbow Families website for more info in the run-up to Pride.
