DVD: Highly Strung

(On sale from 29 April 2010))

Highly Strung is a good film. If you need to know more than that, then I have to say I think you're being rather demanding, but I'll humour you just this once.

Marie (Judith Davis) looks a bit like a young Rachel Shelley, and she's French. So far, so great. She moves away from her family to the prestigious Conservatoire in Lyon and lodges with childhood friend Emma (Isild Le Besco). Gradually it becomes clear that Emma has romantic/intense feelings for Marie. Things become complicated and somewhat creepy/tense. Here's the trailer.

It's a good, solid film, well-acted and tense. If you like dramas and young women who bear a passing resemblance to Ms Shelley, then chances are you won't be disappointed.
