DVD: Skins - Season Two(Reviewed by Rosie Blackwell-Sutton)460 mins. Cert. 18
The second season of Skins had to be special to top the brilliance of the first season so it went out all guns blazing to give us more drugs, more sex and a hell of a lot more drama.
Recovering from his accident, Tony takes more of a back seat in this series as we delve deeper in to the twisted lives of the other characters.
Budding dancer Maxxie is left to take care of struggling Tony as best friend Sid and girlfriend Michelle can’t face the task. However, Maxxie has troubles of his own. The kids on his block are giving him grief, his dad (Bill Bailey) reacts badly to his dancing and he has a stalker!
There is, of course, no shortage of trouble for the rest of the group. Sid has to deal with a death in the family and his girlfriend, Cassie, running off to Scotland to have some fun with tartan clad men.
Anwar has a secret girlfriend that angers Maxxie, whilst Michelle has a new sister to get to grips with that results in her hooking up with Sid, much to Tony’s annoyance and Cassie’s surprise.
This isn’t the only new couple as unlikely duo Chris and Jal get together. Both are hiding massive, life-changing secrets from each other and their friends that result in shocking consequences.
Also during this season Tony’s sister Effy takes more of an important role as her and new friend Pandora look set to guide us in to Series Three and introduce us to a whole new hoard of trendy teens.
If you can’t think of a life without Chris, Tony and Sid, then fear not! The DVD has many extras to keep you going. There are five bonus Skins stories, behind the scenes interviews and a Skins secret party all to watch before you meet the new Bristolian bunch.
Skins is out on DVD now. Visit our competitions page to find out how to win a box set of Seasons 1-4.
